Top 10 Ways to Read the Bible
At the beginning of each year many people set out to read the Bible and get bogged down and never finish. Here are a few tips to help keep you going throughout the year.
- Read the Bible straight through in one year. You will need to average 3 chapters a day.
- Get a daily Bible reading plan and follow it.
- Get a Chronological Bible that puts all of the passages in order of their time line. (The Narrated Chronological Bible)
- Read a chapter out of Proverbs that corresponds with that particular days date.
- Start by reading the New Testament.
- Set a consistent time each day and predetermine the length (20 min. is a good average).
- Note promises, instructions, and verses that stick out as you read and spend time just thinking about that one thought.
- Before reading, pray and ask God to meet with you and talk with you.
- Use audio Bibles (CD, MP3) when you are traveling, working out, or running errands this can help you increase time in the Word of God.
- Share with someone what you read and the “fresh bread” (the Spirit feeding you through His Word) that you are enjoying.
